Auction Draft : A type of draft in which owners are given fantasy money to bid on players to fill their team's roster.

Basic Scoring : A league in which points can only be scored by an owners starting League lineup and only for touchdowns, field goals, extra points.

Bench : Players on a fantasy team who are not in that teams starting lineup therefore do not score points. A fantasy owners bench changes from week to week depending on injuries, performance and bye weeks.

Cheat Sheet : A sheet which contains projected fantasy points for players. It can be used as a drafting tool and as a tool to help choose your weekly starting lineup.

Cut/Drop Player : To cut/drop a player from your roster.

Draft : A meeting in which fantasy owners gather prior to the NFL season. The owners choose the players to fill their team rosters.

Dynasty league : A fantasy league in which a fantasy owner's entire team is kept from year to year and drafting is only done to fill roster spots and improve the team.

Fantasy owner : The person who owns and runs a fantasy team making all the decisions.

Free agent : Any NFL player who is not currently on any of the fantasy league teams.

Injured reserve, IR, Injured List, IL : A special spot on a fantasy owner's roster in which an injured NFL player can be placed in order to pick up a replacement player but still hold on to the injured player. Some leagues can limit the number of IR spots.

Keeper league : A league in which a predetermined number of players can be kept from the previous years team so that only the remaining roster spots need to be drafted.

League : A group of fantasy owners who play against each other.

Performance : Includes basic scoring plus the addition of yardage scoring Scoring on offense. It can also include interceptions, fumbles, sacks, etc.

Pick up : A transaction made by an owner to add a player to their roster from a free agent pool. Some leagues charge a fee to make the transaction.

Roster : A fantasy owner's team.

Round : A term used during a draft. The number of rounds per draft is equal to the number of players a fantasy owner needs to draft.

Serpentine draft : A type of draft in which the draft order is chosen by drawing names then the order is reversed each following round.

Starting lineup : The players a fantasy owner chooses to play in a particular week. These are the only players who can score points for the team.

Trade : An agreement between two or more fantasy owners to exchange players.

Transaction fee : An amount of money an owner pays to the league for any change made to their teams roster. The amount is determined by the league.
